1st Annual eQuality Film Fest | Syracuse, NY

AIDS Community Resources presents Inlaws & Outlaws at Central New York's 1st Annual eQuality Film Fest to benefit The Q Center. The festival will feature three gay-themed films in one day at the Palace Theatre on James on Sunday, October 9th, with Fagbug showing at 2 pm, Inlaws & Outlaws showing at 4:30 pm and the Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same showing at 7:30 pm. All proceeds will benefit the Q Center at ACR, a safe and creative space for all LGBTQ youth, their allies and parents.

In addition, filmmaker Drew Emery returns to his hometown of Syracuse to join VIP guests at a reception prior to the film and a Q&A with the audience after. "I'm really honored to be part of this wonderful day," said Emery. "Nothing makes me happier than to see so much progress happen where I grew up. Anything I can do to help the Q Center take that progress further, I'm there."

The festival will feature live music and — a first ever — a wedding on the Palace stage. Louise and Marie Tyo of Potsdam won a fundraising raffle that includes a free wedding, reception, cake, rings, photos, music, limousine and a two-night getaway. For the past ten years on this same weekend, Louise and Marie have been getting married in their church and this year they get to make it legal. All are welcome to join us for this party.

Event organizer Moe Harrington O'Neill added that "this event is our gift to the community to come together and celebrate the passing of the Marriage Equality Act in NY. We all love and we all love movies!"

In addition to general admission tickets and festival passes, VIP tickets for the Fest are available for $50 and include admission to all films with free popcorn, access to the VIP room with food and bar and a special meeting with Drew Emery.

About the Q Center:

The Q Center is a safe and creative space for LGBTQ youth, their allies and parents. We provide educational support, free counseling, community outreach and support groups for the youth as well as their parents. HIV/AIDS prevention education, awareness and testing is also provided. We house a Cyber Center, a library and provide much needed social events. We have just successfully completed our first all day summer program (lunch provided), which included day trips, workshops and community building skills. We are the only center of its kind within a 75 mile radius and with increased numbers of assault and suicide statistics, our continued programming is imperative.
